MikoVegas

My name is Miko Montgomery. I’m a writer (novels, screenplays and comics), photographer and filmmaker. I was physically born many years ago in a small, Midwestern city. But I was reborn in Las Vegas where I’ve lived for over twenty years. Las Vegas gave birth to the man and the artist that I am today. I discovered my life’s meaning and purpose in Las Vegas. I hit the jackpot for real. As a result, I have a deep and personal connection to the city. There’s not a city in the world like Las Vegas. But most people have no idea why.

Las Vegas is known all over the world as Sin City, a reputation it wears with great pride. But the tits, glitz, and other weapons of mass distraction obscure an occult truth. As bizarre as it may sound, Las Vegas is in fact, a spiritual destination. Nature is the physical manifestation of natural law, and natural law is all about balance. Las Vegas is a city, but it’s also a metaphor for the human condition. Because life itself is about balance; a balance of opposites… positive and negative, good and evil, light and dark, male and female, etc.

There’s no doubt that Las Vegas provides ample opportunities for damnation. After all, it’s called Sin City, not Salt Lake City. And yet, because of natural law, Las Vegas must surely provide equal opportunities for transcendence, and even enlightenment. And it does. It’s an odd paradox that illustrates the occult truth of Las Vegas. Sin City is indeed a spiritual city. Las Vegas is like life itself… it’s a battlefield. There’s a war raging within all human beings, a war based on choice. Do we choose to wallow in the worst that we can be? Or do we aspire to our best?  Do we reach for the gutter or the stars? Las Vegas puts those questions front and center.

Spiritual destinations are inherently supernatural. It absolutely goes with the territory. For example, you’ll find all walks of life in Las Vegas, but not all are necessarily human. That’s not hyperbole. I speak from experience. If ever a city were inhabited by genuine angels and demons, that city is Las Vegas. In addition, Las Vegas is seething with a powerful, supernatural energy that I call the Vegas Vibe. It’s a transformative energy. You feel it as soon as you enter the city. It affects people differently. If you’ve got your shit together, you might be okay… with a little luck. But if you’re bringing issues here… particularly the inability to control yourself, you’re gambling for real, and you’ll probably lose. Las Vegas is the crash and burn capital of the world for good reason. It’s called the Vegas Vibe.

It’s been said that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. I say what happens in Vegas can change your life forever. Again, I speak from experience. The famous sign at the entrance to the Strip reads, “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas”. I would add a caveat to that welcome. Once you find Las Vegas, Las Vegas finds you.

As an artist, Las Vegas informs everything that I do. This website is a presentation of my art. I hope you find something to your liking.

Please come back.
