I’m a big fan of Gina Carano. I never followed her career in UFC. I saw her for the first time in her first film, Haywire. It’s a great movie. It was a refreshing change of pace to see a female action star I could believe in. There are several action sequences, but my favorite was a fight in a hotel room. Gina was going one on one with Michael Fassbender. It’s an incredible scene, and easily one of the best fight sequences in ANY film.
It’s unfortunate that she’ll probably never have the career she deserves. Her public humiliation at the hands of the Disney corporation was unprecedented. And all she did was speak truth. Her treatment by Disney was a sobering reminder that in todays world, truth is subversive. But it seems as though Gina is being avenged. Because Disney has been on an unprecedented downward decline unlike anything witnessed in Hollywood before. The company is literally imploding. After a long string of crazy and costly business decisions, the once mighty Disney is now a shadow of its former self, selling assets in a desperate attempt to survive.
What must Gina think about all this? Surely, she’s saying “Hell, yeah!” Payback is a bad MF, and Disney definitely has it coming. Gina Carano is obviously tough. I look forward to seeing her fight for her future. The video below is an incredible tribute to a hero.
